Britain in Bloom I think is a superb initiative it brings communities together, brightens our streets and of course, lets people get their hands dirty gardening.

When Standish in Bloom approach me to design a logo for their Britain in Bloom signage I jumped at the chance, being a keen gardener and lover of community-focused initiatives I obviously jumped right in to create a logo free of charge as a donation to the cause.

As I’ve lived in Standish most of my life I understood the story of how Myles Standish sailed on the Mayflower to America acompanying the Pilgrims so my inspiration quite simply came from the flower ‘Trailing arbutus‘ commonly known to many as the Mayflower or ground Laurel.

My simple illustration of the Mayflower linked with a clear san serif typeface provides the perfect signage for a stunning display each year.
