Hawkley Plumbing and Tiling Logo
It’s a good idea for self-employed business people to begin with the end in mind when starting out. Having a good strong brand identity is a great way to start, it provides you with not just a professional image but a device that instantly makes you stand out from the rest.
The industry that is plumbing and tiling is exceptionally competitive with an array of self-employed operations and bigger companies fighting for custom so the competition is strong.
As a start-up self-employed business Hawkley Plumbing and Tiling was looking for a strong logo that they could use online, vans and uniforms alike. This iconic design draws from the name of the business Hawkley which is also an area of Wigan. The name Hawkley has its origins in the times of the Anglo-Saxons and comes from the Old English personal name Hafoc, which means hawk.
Given that as I suspected the name Hawkley comes from the Hawk bird it became evident this bird should be used as the icon for the business. Having sourced a number of images of this beautiful bird of prey the illustration of the Hawk started to take shape. The final version is presented here in Gold on Blue with bold typography making up the name of the business.
