I think upholstery is a great craft, one that we should embrace much more especially if we want to recycle furniture.  Oldfield Upholstery based in Wigan have been providing an upholstery service for some time, transforming old sofas and armchairs into pieces that look and feel brand new.

When I was asked to design a new logo for them I enquired as to what piece of furniture they worked on the most, the answer was definitive the armchair.  So the work began to design an icon based around an armchair, something simple that was instantly recognisable as an armchair.

If you have every tried to create an icon you’ll understand how hard can be to constrain your work to the smallest amount of detail whilst hitting the mark in terms of the look and feel.  With this piece of work, the client was delighted that the combination of the icon the heritage green not to mention the choice of fonts really hit the mark.

Used in print, online and as a swing tag this logo provides a sense of a confident, craft-based company that can be relied on.
