Finding a web designer can be a daunting task to say the least, but when you want to work with a local Wigan-based web designer then how do you know who you are dealing with is really based in Wigan.

I’ve been based in Wigan all my life so I know a thing or two about the local area, so here are a few tips for testing if the web designer you are speaking to is actually local to Wigan.

1. The easiest way is to meet up with them face to face.  Get them to visit your premises, if they are out of the area the likelihood is they won’t be up for the trip.
2. Next ask them about other Wigan-based businesses they have worked for, if they are local they’ll have one or two Wigan businesses under their belt.
3. Ask them about the other jobs they have had in the past, I for one have worked as a Studio Manager in many places around the North West and also been a consultant to other web development agencies in Wigan.
4. Next, why not ask them a local knowledge question, why not ask them if they have ever been to the local Wigan Park, trust me if they call the park Mez-Nes Park they aren’t from Wigan, if they call it ‘Mains Park’ they probably have lived her for some time.
5. Lastly and one that I personally like, ask them what they call a bread roll, offer them a few options 1) Tea Cake, 2) Barm Cake, 3) Breadcake, 4) Muffin.  rest assured if they are from around Wigan they will call it a Barm Cake, if they are proper local they’ll know a Barm Joe and understand a Tea Cake has sultanas in it.

I do draw the line at asking people if they know what a Wigan Kebab or a Babby’s Yed is, some things I believe are better left to be discovered.

Ok, some of these questions are a little tongue in cheek, but finding a Wigan-based web designer, who can write content for your website with some local knowledge is tough.  Rest assured if this is what you are looking for you’re in the right place, what’s more, ‘tha’ll not ave to root for so much brass nother’
