Many people the world over love the British Lake District.  With its lakes and stunning picture book scenery, it is a sight to behold all year round.

When asked to create a logo for a country holiday cottage at Skelwith Bridge, Ambleside I immediately looked to the colours of the area of Ambleside.  Yes, the colours of the lake could be an obvious choice not to mention the beautiful blue skies of summer, but the year-round dominant colour is green.

No matter what time of year even when there’s snow on the hills the colour green seeps through colouring almost everything around with a natural earthy hue.

This calming green colour is so ubiquitous in the area that the design almost demanded it to be used alone.  It would have been easy to ‘over egg’ the design with gold colours or an attempt to bring blue into the logo, so with this in mind, I worked only in shades of green coupled with white rustic typography in an old-style font.

All in all a nice logo that can be used in all applications, timeless and classic.
