Funny how small the world has become, when I started out the Rotring pen had just been sent packing by the Macintosh and mobile phones were the size of small house.  However in today’s connected world working with someone in San Francisco is as easy as working with someone in Leeds.

Recently we have started working in collaboration with online crowd sourcing giants Crowd Valley based in San Francisco.  Crowd Valley’s are the Global One Stop Shop for configuring and operating your crowd investing, peer to peer or online securities marketplace.

The collaboration is to assist in the launch of a new crowd investment marketplace, WN6 are initially working to provide creative direction and branding expertise working alongside the San Francisco team.

So although the world is a vast place, with today’s technology even Standish, Wigan can have a small impact on the activities in San Francisco, USA.

Just for the record on how things used to be, I started my computing life on a good old ZX81.  The ZX81 was released in 1981 and the cost back then was £69.95, with a “massive 1k memory” (thats 1/1024th of a Mg to those who only ever knew Megabytes and Gigabytes).  The average wage was £6,000 pa (the equivalent of about £19,000 today), petrol cost 28p a litre (90p), a pint of beer was 35p (£1.10), a loaf of bread 33p (£1.10) and a pint of milk 17p (54p).  At the time I left school the amount of people unemployed was 3,139,000 compared to 2,300,000 today and the concept of going to University (all be it fees all paid!) was reserved only for those who where to be doctors and lawyers etc.

Now I feel old … or is it better to think I have a massive amount of experience and a very youthful outlook 🙂
