Fair Play SEO

Fair Play SEOFair Play SEO is a term that WN6 use to describe the way search engine optimisation should be carried out, it covers only a few points.

  • Playing by the rules of search engines
  • Writing content naturally with an eye on search engine guidance
  • Not trying to bend or break the system

Put quite simply Fair Play SEO is about playing by the rules and using your website naturally.

Over the years many people have said that they are paying for SEO with a company that guarantees to get more business, raise rankings, get you to the top spot of Google.  WN6 have almost pleaded with people to be very very careful, because it simply isn’t that easy.  Nor should it be.  The only way to gain top spot on a search engines is to focus properly on your content and your potential customers and write good content for them.

Google owns the search, their main goal is to serve the best quality links based on the what people put in the search box (the search string). Understand this and you will begin to understand how to rank well.  Thankfully WN6 understand and prove it can be done properly, within the rules and naturally – simply Fair Play SEO.

I’ll pay to have it done quicker, I’m not interested in Fair Play SEO!

In business time is money – yes, but if you pay a quick win SEO company to get you to the top spot of Google within a month or less then you quite simply run the risk of potentially loosing your website down a deep dark search engine hole.

Cynically many may say – “well you would say that, you sell Fair Play SEO!”

I only say stay clear of quick win SEO companies for one reason – it more than likely will damage your business!  FACT!  I don’t want my business damaged why would I want yours damaged – I don’t.

To prove what damage quick win SEO companies can do, below is exactly what has happened to one North West business who we have been helping recently.

Fair Play SEO - no red card to all quick win SEO companiesThey paid a quick win SEO company to get them to the ‘top spot of Google’ … traffic to the site increased, ranking improved for a while, but enquiries didn’t increase.  When the client asked why enquiries hadn’t increased the company said “enquiries aren’t what we do, we improve ranking – speak to your designer”.  The designer of the website couldn’t understand why their wasn’t an increase in enquiries and didn’t have any answers, the site was working fine.

Within approx 2 months – the client noticed (as he was extolling the virtues of quick win SEO companies) that his website link on Google search had been flagged with a new message.  A message from Google that stated the site had been compromised!

From here on in the story went from bad to worse, the site fell off Google searches, ranking damaged etc.

The client approached WN6 asking if I could help, I explained what I believed had happened and offered to try and salvage the situation and install a new website to boot – to properly set the website on the right foot.

Now that the site is complete and I have received all the historical web master data from Google.  The horror of what actually happened match my initial hunches.  The quick win SEO company had tried to exploit a loop hole in the Google ranking system that measures links to the site.  They had installed a piece of software on the clients site that automatically linked the site to hundreds of sites around the world…the rationale the more sites that link to the host website the higher the rank.  The problem is Google spots this sort of piracy and punishes hard. Google understands that links from sites selling Viagra and the such like are rarely relevant to run of the mill businesses and especially when 890 links appear in weeks.  By this time the damage has been done anyone who has bought such a service is £x lighter and their website will now start to fall off the map.  What’s more I have the data from Google to prove this actually happens.

The rule on links is simple – it’s relevant links that count.  Relevant links show that your site has good content from real humans that appreciate your content, more over linking to your content adds value to their site.  It’s simply like referencing at Uni.

Fair Play SEO Green LightSO how do you get to top spot on Google?  The answer is simple, with time, effort, analysis and a firm understanding of your customers and your competition, then you have a chance.  Quite simple – Fair Play SEO.

Play fair and search engines will reward – and in turn your customers will too.

Hope this helps someone – thank you for reading, you have just read a post that has been optimised for the search string Fair Play SEO 🙂

Please remember with SEO nobody can guarantee anything – not even Google.  Even Google doesn’t rank number one for a search string that asks “how do I get to the top of Google”
